Mayor Madden Declares Victory in Working Families Party Primary

Troy, NY – Mayor Patrick Madden’s reelection campaign has announced victory in the 2019 Working Families Party mayoral primary election. Mayor Madden will appear on the ballot as the endorsed candidate for the Working Families Party and Democratic Party during the general election this fall.

Mayor Patrick Madden said, “Our success in the Working Families Party primary demonstrates strong support for my campaign and the tremendous progress we have made during the last three and a half years. I am proud to have the support of WFP voters from across Troy during the primary election. Thank you to the Working Families Party executive committee for their support and endorsement, and the countless volunteers who helped my campaign to victory.”

Elected on a platform to restore Troy’s finances and improve the city’s neighborhoods, Mayor Patrick Madden is an experienced and proven leader committed to building a brighter future for the Collar City.

Since assuming office in 2016, Mayor Madden has:

  • delivered three consecutive balanced budgets
  • secured major investments to replace aging water, sewer and transportation infrastructure
  • fought to secure funding and essential equipment for Troy’s police and fire departments.

Under his leadership, the City of Troy has received over $250 million in private and public investment, helping to drive economic development, create local jobs, revitalize Troy’s waterfront, and transform vacant former industrial properties into major hubs of housing & economic activity.

Mayor Madden is the endorsed candidate of the Democratic Party and Working Families Party.

Previously, Patrick served as Executive Director of the Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (TRIP) for 30 years. He also served as a board member for numerous community organizations, including Rensselaer County ARC, the Neighborhood Risk Management Corporation, Joseph’s House and Shelter, Troy Community Land Bank, and the Rensselaer County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.
