Congressman Paul Tonko endorses Mayor Patrick Madden
Troy, NY – Mayor Patrick Madden’s reelection campaign today announced they have received the endorsement of Congressman Paul Tonko.
Congressman Tonko said, “Public service is a tremendous undertaking which presents endless challenges to those serving their community. Mayor Madden has been an effective leader for Troy, making the difficult choices to protect taxpayers, repair infrastructure, balance budgets, increase economic growth, and invest in neighborhoods. His experience has enabled him to be successful in this important work, and I’m proud to endorse Mayor Madden to continue leading the great city of Troy.”

Since assuming office in 2016, Mayor Madden has delivered four consecutive balanced budgets, secured major investments to replace aging water, sewer and transportation infrastructure, and fought to secure funding and essential equipment for Troy’s police and fire departments. Under Mayor Madden’s leadership, the City’s bond rating has improved twice, and the fiscal stress rating has been reduced by the Office of State Comptroller for each of the last 4 years.
Under his leadership, the City of Troy has benefited from over $250 million in private and public investment, helping to drive economic development, create local jobs, revitalize Troy’s waterfront, and transform vacant former industrial properties into major hubs of housing & economic activity.
Previously, Patrick served as Executive Director of the Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (TRIP) for 30 years. He also served as a board member for numerous community organizations, including Rensselaer County ARC, the Neighborhood Risk Management Corporation, Joseph’s House and Shelter, Troy Community Land Bank, and the Rensselaer County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.
